The Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli led a high-level meeting to discuss a proposed project for producing green hydrogen and ammonia in the Gulf of Suez. Attended by key officials including Deputy Prime Minister for Industrial Development and Ministers of Industry, Electricity, Renewable Energy, Investment, and Petroleum, the meeting highlighted Egypt's ambition to advance local production of green ammonia and become a regional hub for green hydrogen. Emphasizing the state's incentives and the country's abundant renewable energy resources, Madbouli outlined the project's significance in achieving carbon neutrality and attracting investments. The project is also expected to provide green fuel for ships transiting the Suez Canal and cater to global markets, reinforcing Egypt's position as a regional energy hub amidst rising international competition. Madbouli reiterated the strategic importance of such green fuel production projects in Egypt, aligning with the nation's energy sector strategy focusing on expanding renewable energy use and reducing carbon emissions by minimizing reliance on conventional energy sources.
