Cummins Inc., through its zero-emissions business segment Accelera, is leading the way in green hydrogen production with the opening of a new electrolyzer manufacturing plant in Guadalajara, Spain. The plant, spanning 24,000 square meters, represents a €50 million investment and is one of the world's largest dedicated to electrolyzer production. With a current production capacity of 500 megawatts annually, the facility is designed to expand beyond 1 gigawatt as demand increases. The emphasis on sustainability is evident through the integration of 3,000 rooftop solar panels, a geothermal heating and cooling system, and rainwater harvesting, allowing the plant to meet up to 70% of its energy needs on-site. David Heredero, the Guadalajara Plant Director, highlights the team's focus on shaping the industry and fostering a performance-driven culture. The plant currently employs around 150 skilled workers, with potential for growth to 200 as operations scale up.
