Enagás, a Spanish energy company, is launching a bio-LNG supply service at its regasification terminals in Barcelona and Huelva, scheduled to commence in March. The bio-LNG, derived from processing domestic and industrial organic waste, will be offered to tankers and ships, making Enagás one of the pioneers in Europe utilizing interconnected infrastructure to enhance sustainability. The terminals in Barcelona and Huelva meet strict environmental and social standards set by the EU, affirming their commitment to a cleaner future. Enagás has been actively involved in initiatives for decarbonizing maritime transport, like Core LNGas Hive and LNGas Hive 2, and has upgraded its terminals to support small-scale vessel refueling. The company's efforts have led to a significant growth in LNG bunkering activities in Spain, with a notable surge in supply volume over the recent years, especially to small vessels through ship-to-ship loading and tankers using truck-to-ship method.
