EnergyPathways Unveils MESH Development Design for Sustainable Energy Hub in North-West England
Key Ideas
- EnergyPathways, in collaboration with strategic partners, has finalized the pre-FEED activities and selected the technical design for the Marram Energy Storage Hub (MESH) in the UK.
- MESH is designed to integrate various energy systems, including gas production, hydrogen storage, offshore wind, and decarbonised gas power generation, to provide clean and reliable energy.
- The initial MESH project development focuses on repurposing existing gas infrastructure to create an energy hub, with plans for gas storage, production, and future integration with hydrogen storage and low carbon energy projects.
- The CEO of EnergyPathways highlights MESH's potential to support the UK's energy transition, provide a secure energy supply, moderate gas prices, and bring new life to decommissioned oil and gas assets in the region.
EnergyPathways has shared an update on the pre-FEED activities for the Marram Energy Storage Hub (MESH), revealing the selected technical design for the project in collaboration with Wood plc, Mermaid Subsea Services, and PDi Ltd. MESH aims to serve as an integrated energy system solution in the North-West of England, connecting various energy sources like gas production, hydrogen storage, offshore wind, and decarbonised power generation. The project will repurpose existing gas infrastructure, establishing a hub for clean energy production and storage.
The MESH development will start with the Marram Gas Field as a gas storage and production facility, with plans for an unmanned offshore platform, production wells, pipelines, and upgraded onshore facilities. Future phases include broader integration with projects such as hydrogen storage, additional gas storage, and low-carbon energy production.
CEO Ben Clube emphasized the strategic role MESH will play in the UK's energy transition, providing a secure energy supply, moderating international gas prices, and utilizing regional energy resources efficiently. The project aims to mobilize public and private capital to support clean energy initiatives and transform abandoned oil and gas assets into valuable energy infrastructure.
