Gasgrid, along with its international partners, has been awarded EUR 51.4 million in support from the European Union’s Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) for three hydrogen transport infrastructure projects in the Baltic Sea area. The projects include the Nordic-Baltic Hydrogen Corridor, the Nordic Hydrogen Route, and the Baltic Sea Hydrogen Collector, aiming to develop hydrogen infrastructure and promote clean energy investments in the region.
The decision, made by the EU's CEF committee for energy projects, emphasizes the strategic importance of Finland and the Baltic Sea Region in the development of the hydrogen economy. The projects received support after being evaluated against specific criteria such as priority, maturity, quality, and impact on decarbonization and EU climate targets.
Sara Kärki, Senior Vice President of Hydrogen Development at Gasgrid, expressed enthusiasm for the decision, highlighting its significance for Finland and the wider European hydrogen economy. The funding is expected to facilitate the creation of an integrated and competitive hydrogen market, enhancing energy security and supporting the clean energy transition in the region.
