The project aims to generate green hydrogen by utilizing 10GW of onshore wind and 2.5GW of solar energy across the Burin Peninsula. EverWind has focused on pre-construction activities, including environmental data collection and studying engineering challenges. The proposed industrial facility for green hydrogen production will be located approximately 7 km northeast of the Town of Marystown. This project, one of the largest investments in the Province's history, is estimated to create around 5,500 construction jobs and 500-750 operational jobs. Matt Borys, VP Corporate Development of EverWind, highlighted the importance of job creation for retaining families on the Burin Peninsula and supporting local development. EverWind plans to submit an Environmental Impact Statement by late 2025 and continues to engage with communities through information sessions and collaboration with Indigenous groups.
