GAC Spain has inaugurated a new office at the port of Huelva, aiming to provide diverse services including ship agency, husbandry, bunker fuels, Customs clearance, crew change support, freight services, and ship spares logistics. The company's decision to expand its operations to Huelva is strategically aligned with the growing focus on green hydrogen and renewable energy in southern Spain. As part of the Andalusia Green Hydrogen Valley project, Huelva is designated as a crucial hub for the transition to renewable energy sources. The project, led by Spanish energy giant CEPSA, involves the establishment of two green hydrogen production facilities in Huelva and Campo de Gibraltar. These facilities will have a combined electrolysis capacity of 2 GW, with the potential to generate up to 300,000 tonnes of green hydrogen annually. The expansion to Huelva complements GAC's existing presence in Algeciras, the largest port in Spain, underlining the company's commitment to providing comprehensive support to its clientele amid the ongoing energy transition. The EUR3 billion investment in Huelva and Cadiz regions signifies a significant step towards achieving Spain's renewable energy objectives, further solidifying the country's position in the green energy sector.
