Gaz-System awarded EU funding for Pomeranian Green Hydrogen Cluster project
Key Ideas
- Gaz-System in Poland secures EU funding to develop the Pomeranian Green Hydrogen Cluster project, aiming to boost renewable hydrogen production and supply in Poland and Germany.
- Collaboration with PNE AG, Sevivon, and Gascade Gastransport to analyze and develop hydrogen infrastructure in north-west Poland and north-east Germany.
- The project received €190,000 for a feasibility study funded by CINEA under the CEF cross-bord renewable energy instrument.
- Gaz-System is actively engaging in the 'Hydrogen Map of Poland' initiative and exploring other hydrogen projects like the Nordic-Baltic Hydrogen Corridor for future development.
Poland's Gaz-System has been granted EU funding to advance the Pomeranian Green Hydrogen Cluster project, a collaborative effort involving West Pomeranian and Lubuskie Provinces in Poland, and Mecklenburg-Vorpommern and Brandenburg in Germany. The project aims to enhance renewable hydrogen production and its integration into the transmission networks of both countries. Gaz-System is partnering with PNE AG, Sevivon, and Gascade Gastransport to evaluate the potential development of hydrogen infrastructure in the mentioned regions. Financial support from the European Climate, Infrastructure and Environmental Executive Agency (CINEA) has enabled a feasibility study to assess the viability of establishing a hydrogen network. Concurrently, Gaz-System is progressing with the 'Hydrogen Map of Poland' initiative to map out hydrogen transport possibilities within its transmission network, linking producers, import sources, storage facilities, end users, and distribution networks. Additionally, the company is actively exploring the feasibility of other hydrogen ventures such as the Nordic-Baltic Hydrogen Corridor. This development aligns with the broader energy collaboration in Europe, as seen in the completion of a pre-feasibility study for the 2,500km Nordic-Baltic pipeline, which could potentially connect with or complement the Pomeranian Green Hydrogen Cluster project.
