Union Minister Pralhad Joshi recently inspected an integrated renewable energy storage project at Pinnapuram in Andhra Pradesh, developed by Greenco Group with an investment of $4.2 billion. The project is divided into $1.2 billion for the pumped storage component and $3 billion for solar and wind infrastructure. The mega project consists of 4,000 MW of solar, 1,000 MW of wind, and 1,680 MW of pumped hydropower generation. With a notable storage capacity of 10,080 MWh per day, the project aims to provide dispatchable, carbon-free energy to support industries like green steel, green aluminum, and green hydrogen production. Anil Chalamalasetty, Group CEO and MD of Greenko, highlighted the project's significance in aiding global decarbonization efforts, particularly in hard-to-abate industries. By integrating solar, wind, and pumped storage power, the initiative is poised to make a substantial positive impact on sustainability and environmental goals.
