GreenH Electrolysis, a joint venture between India's GR Group and Spain's H2B2 Electrolysis, is at the forefront of green hydrogen innovation in India. Established in 2022, the company focuses on manufacturing high-tech electrolysers and developing green hydrogen projects. Operating from Gurugram, GreenH runs a state-of-the-art PEM Electrolyser manufacturing facility with plans to expand to 500 MW annual production capacity. They are currently engaged in India's pioneering hydrogen train project in Jind, Haryana, as part of Indian Railways' initiative. The project includes a 1 MW PEM electrolyser and aims to convert diesel trains to hydrogen-powered ones. The interview with Dhiman Roy, CEO of GreenH, highlighted the company's business verticals, including electrolyser sales and infrastructure development for hydrogen distribution. With a focus on PEM technology initially, GreenH plans to venture into SOEC and AEM technologies by 2026. They anticipate SOEC and AEM to revolutionize the market post-2030. India's strengths in renewable energy and sizable consumer base position it favorably for green hydrogen growth, especially in mobility and merchant distribution sectors. Challenges such as limited demand, electrolyser capacity, policy frameworks, and workforce shortages remain hurdles in scaling up the hydrogen economy.
