Himachal Pradesh is making significant strides in expanding its solar power production capacity, with plans to generate 72 MW through the completion of seven projects by the end of the year. Surveys are underway for an additional eight projects with a combined capacity of 325 MW. The state government is committed to making Himachal Pradesh the first 'Green Energy' state by 2026, focusing on environmental preservation and sustainability. Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu highlighted the importance of renewable energy sources in combating climate change and ensuring energy security for future generations. Apart from solar power, the state is also venturing into green hydrogen energy by initiating a one MW project in Nalagarh district in collaboration with Oil India Limited. This initiative aims to harness the power of inexhaustible green energy sources to mitigate climate change effects and reduce carbon emissions.
