This pioneering project represents a significant leap forward in sustainable steel production as it will utilize 100% Green Hydrogen. The initiative, sanctioned under India's National Green Hydrogen Mission and supported by the Ministry of Steel and the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, aims to revolutionize the steel industry's approach to carbon emissions. With a total estimated capital expenditure of INR 321 Crore and 50% capex incentives from the Government of India, the project highlights a strong commitment to promoting sustainable development in the sector. The plant's adoption of direct reduced iron vertical shaft technology, powered by green hydrogen, is set to replace traditional fossil fuel-based iron production methods, significantly reducing CO₂ emissions.
