Innovative Green Hydrogen Plant Inaugurated in Tirupati by Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister
Key Ideas
- Andhra Pradesh CM inaugurates a Rs 1,000-crore green hydrogen plant blending it with PNG and LPG for industrial heating in Tirupati.
- The plant has a 300 kW PEM electrolyser powered by a 1.1 MWp rooftop solar plant, aiming to reduce 206 TPA of CO2 emissions.
- This initiative not only sets a benchmark for clean energy transition in India but also showcases the state's commitment to leading the green energy revolution.
- Andhra Pradesh's Integrated Clean Energy Policy aims to add over 160 GW of renewable energy capacity and attract investments worth up to USD 119 billion in five years.
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu virtually inaugurated Hero Future Energies' green hydrogen plant at Rockman Industries in Tirupati. This innovative plant integrates green hydrogen with Piped Natural Gas (PNG) and Liquefied Natural Gas (LPG) for industrial heating. The plant, equipped with a 300 kW PEM electrolyser and powered by a 1.1 MWp rooftop solar plant, can blend green hydrogen up to 10% in LPG and three per cent in PNG. With an annual green hydrogen output of 25 TPA expandable to 54 TPA, the plant is estimated to reduce 206 TPA of Carbon Dioxide emissions and release up to 195 TPA of oxygen into the atmosphere. CM Naidu emphasized the project's significance in industrial decarbonization and its potential to serve as a model for other industries to adopt hydrogen-based solutions efficiently. This initiative aligns with Andhra Pradesh's commitment to clean energy transition, evident through the Integrated Clean Energy Policy aiming to attract substantial investments and increase renewable energy capacity significantly. The strategic location and conducive policies position the state as a potential global hub for green hydrogen exports, catering to both domestic and international markets.
