Invenergy, a prominent developer in clean energy solutions, has officially announced the commencement of operations at its first clean hydrogen project, the Sauk Valley Hydrogen facility in Rock Falls, Illinois. This 5-acre facility has the capacity to produce up to 40 metric tons of clean hydrogen annually, powered by Invenergy's solar facility and Ohmium International's electrolyzer technology. The project is a collaborative effort aimed at pioneering clean hydrogen production for various industries. The initial hydrogen supply from Sauk Valley is being utilized as a turbine generator cooling agent at the nearby Nelson Energy Center, demonstrating the practical applications of clean hydrogen within existing energy infrastructure. Moreover, the facility's loading capability allows for hydrogen to be transported offsite, with the first offsite order designated for delivery to an Aether Fuels project. Invenergy's Vice President of Hydrogen, Jon Horek, highlighted the strategic importance of clean hydrogen in supplying 'hard-to-abate' sectors with sustainable energy solutions. The company's partnership with Aether Fuels further emphasizes the versatility and market capabilities of clean hydrogen produced at Sauk Valley.
