Jordan showcased its leadership in renewable energy and green hydrogen at the Energy Platform meeting held in Istanbul, Turkey, as part of the Green Week of the Mediterranean. Engineer Amani Al-Azzam represented Jordan, emphasizing collaboration among the Union for the Mediterranean member states. The session focused on evaluating progress since June 2021 and strategizing future actions in energy, environment, and climate change. Al-Azzam highlighted Jordan's significant strides in renewable energy, particularly in solar and wind projects. The country aims to become a regional leader in renewable energy adoption. Additionally, Jordan revealed plans for green hydrogen production, targeting both domestic consumption and export by 2030. The country has already initiated agreements with international partners for feasibility studies and is exploring legislative support for green hydrogen investments. Al-Azzam proposed expanding the platform's focus to include hydrogen and emissions reduction, showcasing Jordan's commitment to cooperation within the Union for the Mediterranean. The meeting concluded with a renewed commitment to sustainable development, reflecting Jordan's proactive role in addressing environmental challenges and fostering regional cooperation.
