JSW Energy in India is making strides in the energy market with its ambitious green hydrogen project, being the largest on a commercial scale in the country. The company's partnership with JSW Steel Ltd signifies a monumental shift towards sustainable steel production, as JSW Energy is set to supply green hydrogen and oxygen to enable the production of green steel, a first in India. Through a memorandum of understanding, JSW Energy has committed to supplying 3,800 tonnes of green hydrogen per annum initially, with plans to significantly scale up production to 85,000-90,000 tonnes by 2030. The project is scheduled for completion by the end of 2025 and aims to cater primarily to JSW Steel's green steel manufacturing requirements. Additionally, JSW Energy has secured additional production capacity under the Strategic Interventions for Green Hydrogen Transition program, emphasizing its commitment to sustainable energy solutions. Apart from the hydrogen project, JSW Energy is also actively engaged in promoting electric vehicles by constructing a substantial Battery Energy Storage Project awarded by SECI. This project, comprising two installations with 500 MWh storage capacity each, is designed to support the creation of an electric vehicle ecosystem in India under a Build Own Operate and Transfer mechanism.
