MAN Truck & Bus has partnered with MAHLE to equip its 'MAN hTGX' truck with a hydrogen power cell unit, enhancing power output and efficiency. The truck, recently awarded the Truck Innovation Award 2025, features a direct-injection engine with a six-cylinder, 16.8-liter displacement, and 383 kW power output. The hydrogen power cell unit from MAHLE includes essential components like pistons and cylinder liners. MAHLE's technology successfully reduces oil consumption and prevents hydrogen gas leakage, ensuring reliable engine performance. MAN plans to produce 200 units of this zero-emission vehicle for select markets from 2025, emphasizing the importance of hydrogen in decarbonizing the commercial vehicle sector. MAHLE's expertise in hydrogen engine technology is evident through successful tests at their hydrogen test center in Stuttgart. With almost 30 hydrogen engine projects in progress, MAHLE is at the forefront of developing sustainable combustion engines for various customers in the transportation sector.
