A consortium comprising Hive Hydrogen, Akuo Energy Afrique, Africoast Investments, and Golden Sunshine Trading has achieved a significant milestone with the development of a giga scale solar project in South Africa. The collaboration, initiated earlier this year, has been in progress for the past two years, culminating in this achievement. Thulani Gcabashe, Chairman of Hive Hydrogen SA, lauded the efforts put into the project, emphasizing the timely and cost-effective development within budget. Don McGillivray of Africoast Investments highlighted the collaborative efforts among the consortium members, expressing pride in co-developing a 6000 MW pipeline of solar and wind energy projects, including the flagship $5.8 billion green ammonia project by Hive Energy. Hive Energy's green ammonia project is poised to produce over 1 million tons annually and has been recognized at the Presidential Investment Summit in South Africa, receiving Strategic Integrated Project Status. The project's strategic significance extends to providing an economic boost to South Africa, with expected benefits for the Eastern, Northern, and Western Cape Provinces. This development marks a positive trajectory towards environmental sustainability, economic growth, and future energy demands in the region.
