Mitsubishi Power, a power solutions brand of Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, successfully completed the Power Station 5 Block 4 gas turbine combined cycle power plant at Aluminium Bahrain B.S.C. (Alba) in Manama, Bahrain. The plant, powered by Mitsubishi Power's hydrogen-ready M701JAC gas turbine and steam turbine, represents the first deployment of this advanced technology in a Middle Eastern aluminium smelter. With a combined cycle output of 680.9 MW, the project aims to support Alba's decarbonization goals and ensure energy security for its operations. The inauguration ceremony, attended by high-level officials from Alba and Mitsubishi Power, highlighted the successful collaboration to advance sustainable energy in Bahrain. Mitsubishi Power will continue to support Alba through a Long-Term Service Agreement to uphold the high availability and reliability of the gas turbine, crucial for sustaining aluminium production and supporting Bahrain's industrial growth. This project underscores the commitment of Mitsubishi Power to provide efficient and reliable power solutions for energy-intensive industries, aligning with decarbonization and economic sustainability goals in the MENA region.
