Mizu Cimentos and CPFL Energia have joined forces to launch a green hydrogen pilot project in the state of Rio Grande do Norte, Brazil. CPFL Energia, known for its ESG commitment, is set to invest BRL44m in sustainable projects, with the green hydrogen pilot project being a significant part of its green programme. The pilot facility will undergo a six-month monitoring period to gauge the actual impact of green hydrogen on reducing CO2 emissions, with an estimated reduction of 12.5 tonnes per annum. Scheduled to begin operations in 2027, the green hydrogen production plant will supply Mizu Cimentos' factory in the Barauna municipality, contributing to the reduction of carbon emissions in the region. Furthermore, the partnership will facilitate market studies to better understand the market dynamics and opportunities related to green hydrogen. This initiative marks a step forward in the adoption of sustainable practices in the Brazilian energy sector and signifies a commitment to environmental responsibility.
