The Moroccan state-owned OCP Group and French power company Engie have signed a joint development agreement (JDA) to accelerate OCP Group’s energy transition towards renewable energy, green hydrogen, and ammonia projects. The collaboration aims to enhance energy flexibility within OCP Group’s network, develop green ammonia production capacity, explore derivatives like e-methanol, and improve water desalination for agricultural purposes. The agreement also includes research and innovation agendas to foster competitiveness and sustainability.
The partnership reflects a commitment to sustainable growth and decarbonization, with a focus on energy innovation. Both companies aim to drive the development of low-carbon energy solutions in Morocco, contributing to a sustainable future. The JDA may lead to the creation of a joint venture between OCP Group and Engie, further strengthening their collaboration.
In a separate project, TE H2, a joint venture between TotalEnergies and EREN Group, partnered with Danish companies to develop a large-scale green hydrogen project in Morocco. The project plans to build 1 GW of solar and wind capacities for green hydrogen production and the transformation of green ammonia for the European market. The collaboration between TE H2, CIP, and A.P. Møller Capital focuses on renewable energy production and infrastructure development, showcasing a significant commitment to sustainable energy initiatives in Morocco.
