The Provincial Government of Newfoundland and Labrador, under the guidance of Honourable Andrew Parsons, Minister of Industry, Energy and Technology, has announced its support for wind-hydrogen development by establishing a 10,316-hectare Wind Hydrogen Hub Land Reserve for North Atlantic Refining Limited (NARL). NARL, a significant industrial player in the region, is strategically located in Come By Chance and owns a large bulk liquid storage terminal. The company plans to upgrade its infrastructure to become a Green Energy Hub, focusing on servicing the wind-hydrogen sector and facilitating the production, storage, and export of Liquid Organic Hydrogen Carriers. This initiative aligns with the province's vision for a sustainable future and is a part of its Hydrogen Development Action Plan. The exclusive rights granted to NARL through the Wind Hydrogen Hub Application Recommendation Letter enable the company to proceed with the development process, subject to various governmental approvals and assessments. The project will also need to comply with Benefits and Gender Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Plans, ensuring alignment with the Province's Wind-Hydrogen Fiscal Framework.
