The Energy Commission of Nigeria (ECN) has collaborated with Noretek Energy to introduce a groundbreaking 20,000 tons per annum Green Hydrogen project in Kogi State, Nigeria. This initiative is a pioneering step towards fostering a sustainable energy landscape in the region. The unveiling of the project, which took place in a meeting chaired by Dr. Mustapha Abdullahi, the Director-General of the Energy Commission, featured key personnel from Noretek Energy, including Mr. Edward Traore and Nuhu Ajanah. The project's potential to revolutionize Nigeria's energy sector was emphasized by the Project Consultant, Mr. Norbert Shialsuk. Noretek Energy highlighted how Nigeria's green hydrogen aspirations are in line with the Energy Transition Plan (ETP) to achieve net-zero emissions by 2060, with hydrogen playing a vital role in curbing greenhouse gas emissions. Leveraging renewable energy sources and innovative technologies, Nigeria aims to diminish its reliance on fossil fuels, generate new economic prospects, and contribute to a more sustainable global energy future. The involvement of international partners like the German International Cooperation Society (GIZ) and key stakeholders like FEPSAN underscores the support for Nigeria's green hydrogen future. Furthermore, ILF Engineering Consultants from Germany will offer technical and engineering assistance for the project, enhancing Nigeria's capacity in renewable energy. The gathering concluded with the Energy Commission presenting a letter of support to Noretek Energy and establishing a joint implementation committee to oversee the project's progression.
