NTPC Limited has signed a tripartite Memorandum of Understanding with Grid Corporation of Odisha and Capital Region Urban Transport to promote green hydrogen-based mobility in Bhubaneswar, India. The collaboration aims to establish a green hydrogen fuelling station and deploy hydrogen-powered buses for short- and long-distance routes. These initiatives will replace fossil fuel-powered vehicles, reducing carbon emissions and promoting eco-friendly public transport, in line with Odisha's sustainable urban development vision. The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy is providing partial funding for this innovative project. Additionally, Odisha recently approved seven renewable energy projects to strengthen the state's sustainable energy infrastructure, reflecting a commitment to transitioning towards renewable energy sources. The green hydrogen mobility project in Bhubaneswar is a significant step for NTPC in advancing decarbonisation and reducing reliance on fossil fuels. By integrating hydrogen technology into public transportation, the initiative supports cleaner energy alternatives and aligns with India's broader goals of environmental sustainability and energy independence.
