  • MoU signed in the presence of Singapore President, Odisha Chief Minister, Union Minister for Education, and other dignitaries to drive innovation in renewable energy in Odisha.
The Energy Department of the Odisha government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore, and IIT-Bhubaneswar to collaborate on cutting-edge research and innovation in renewable energy technologies. This partnership aims to support Odisha's vision of achieving sustainability and aligns with India's national goal of reaching net-zero emissions by 2070. The collaboration focuses on developing advanced solutions in solar, wind, hydro, and waste-to-energy technologies while addressing challenges in decarbonisation and energy security. The initiative also includes exploring innovations in energy storage systems such as battery energy storage systems (BESS), pumped storage projects (PSP), and green hydrogen technologies. Additionally, the collaboration will drive research in Microgrid Technology utilizing distributed renewable energy sources, energy-efficient building designs, grid integration strategies, and climate sciences. As part of the agreement, the partnering institutes will conduct capacity-building initiatives comprising professional training programs and opportunities for student and faculty exchanges. These efforts aim to cultivate a skilled workforce capable of handling emerging challenges in the renewable energy sector. The MoU signing ceremony was attended by dignitaries including Singapore President Tharman Shanmugaratnam, Chief Minister of Odisha Mohan Charan Majhi, Union Minister for Education Dharmendra Pradhan, Minister for Transport and Second Minister for Finance, Singapore Chee Hong Tat, as well as deputy chief ministers and senior officials from NTU, IIT-Bhubaneswar, and the Odisha government.
