The Scottish Government has unveiled a £7m ($9.2m) funding initiative to support local green hydrogen projects with production capacities ranging from 5 to 400MW. This move is aligned with Scotland's goal of achieving Net Zero targets and transitioning towards a greener economy. The funding, developed in collaboration with Scottish Enterprise, will aid in covering project development costs, emphasizing the importance of enhancing the hydrogen supply chain and storage solutions. Interested organizations have until September 27 to apply for a maximum of £2m ($2.6m) in match-funding. Acting Minister for Climate Action, Alasdair Allan, highlighted the critical role of green hydrogen in Scotland's future economy, leveraging the abundance of renewable energy sources in the region. Additionally, the Net Zero Technology Centre (NZTC) and Cruh21 report suggests that Scotland could potentially satisfy all of Germany's hydrogen import demands by 2045, showcasing the significant renewable energy potential of the nation.
