The Scottish Government is set to provide businesses with the opportunity to secure a portion of up to £7 million in funding for green hydrogen projects. This funding is intended to assist in covering the initial costs associated with the development of green hydrogen production projects within the capacity range of five to 400 megawatts. The financial support is crucial in enabling the production of sufficient hydrogen to cater to heating needs ranging from 200 to more than 16,000 homes. Additionally, organizations have until the end of the month to apply for up to £2 million in match-funding through the scheme, in collaboration with Scottish Enterprise. The government's commitment to the hydrogen sector is evident through the Hydrogen Innovation Scheme, which has already backed 31 projects across the country since 2023.
