The Technological and Higher Education Institute of Hong Kong (THEi) recently organized a hydrogen conference and project launching ceremony to advance the hydrogen economy in Hong Kong. Funded by the Environment and Conservation Fund, the event aimed to discuss the importance of hydrogen energy in sustainable development and address the challenges of climate change. The conference brought together experts, government officials, industry representatives, and academia to explore the current status and opportunities in the hydrogen energy sector. One of the key highlights of the event was the launch of the 'Hydrogen Energy Education and Talent Development Centre' by THEi, which is set to open in August. This center will focus on educating the public about hydrogen energy, attracting young talents to the field, and promoting renewable energy development. The President of THEi, Prof Alan LAU Kin-tak, emphasized the significance of hydrogen in transitioning towards cleaner and sustainable energy sources. The conference featured distinguished speakers from mainland China and abroad, including prominent experts and industry leaders, who shared innovative perspectives on hydrogen energy. Discussions revolved around the role of hydrogen in shaping a sustainable future and driving economic growth. Additionally, a technical tour is scheduled to provide participants with practical insights into the industrial operations of hydrogen energy equipment. Various organizations, including the HKSAR government, hydrogen development companies, and industry players, showed their support for the event.
