TotalEnergies and its partners have finalized a Preliminary Contract for Land Reservation for the 'Chbika' project in Morocco. The initiative plans to construct 1 GW of onshore solar and wind capacities to facilitate the production of green hydrogen through seawater electrolysis. This endeavor also aims to deliver 200,000 tons per year of green ammonia to the European market. Situated in the Guelmim-Oued Noun region, this project signifies the initial phase of a global-scale green hydrogen production hub. TE H2 and CIP will lead the development of renewable energy production, while A.P. Møller Capital will oversee port infrastructure advancements. By capitalizing on Morocco's abundant renewable potential and strategic geographical position, the project aligns with Europe's sustainability goals. The collaborative efforts highlight the robust structure of the consortium, emphasizing a promising outlook for advancing green hydrogen production and fostering sustainable energy practices.
