The Union Minister of Power, Manohar Lal, inaugurated the fleet of green hydrogen buses at Leh, a significant step towards promoting clean energy and reducing carbon footprint. During the event, the Minister, along with senior officials, commended NTPC for its innovative efforts in energy security and sustainability. The Green Hydrogen Mobility Project at Leh includes a solar plant, a hydrogen filling station, and hydrogen-powered buses that can operate efficiently at high altitudes and low temperatures. This initiative aims to curb carbon emissions, enhance oxygen levels, and achieve energy self-sufficiency in Ladakh. The project highlights the potential of green hydrogen technology in Ladakh, leveraging the region's solar power generation capabilities. It is designed to minimize fossil fuel dependency and enhance environmental sustainability. NTPC's commitment extends beyond Ladakh, with plans to implement more green hydrogen projects nationwide and develop a hydrogen hub in Andhra Pradesh. These initiatives align with the rapid expansion of renewable energy capacity and the shift towards cleaner fuel alternatives in the country's energy landscape.
