Woodside Energy has made substantial progress on its growth projects, particularly the Beaumont New Ammonia Project in Beaumont, Texas. The project, now 90% complete, is set to begin pre-commissioning activities in the second quarter of the year, with startup targeted for the latter half of 2025. Woodside's CEO, Meg O'Neill, highlighted the project's value-creating potential, which is expected to exceed capital allocation framework targets and enhance Woodside's competitiveness in the lower-carbon ammonia market. The Beaumont New Ammonia Project is designed to produce lower-carbon ammonia by implementing autothermal reforming (ATR) and achieving a 95% carbon dioxide capture rate. Through partnerships with ExxonMobil for carbon capture and storage (CCS) services and Linde for hydrogen supply, the project aims to contribute significantly to Woodside's Scope 3 emissions reduction targets while being free cash flow accretive from 2026 onwards. Woodside's investment in the Beaumont project aligns with the increasing global demand for ammonia, with a focus on lower-carbon solutions. The company's strategic approach includes diversifying its energy portfolio and investing in sustainable projects like the Beaumont New Ammonia Project. Alongside progress in Beaumont, Woodside is also advancing the Scarborough Energy Project, reinforcing its commitment to growth and sustainability in the energy sector.
