Abu Dhabi's Integrated Transport Centre has announced the conversion of Bus Service No. 65 into an eco-friendly service powered by hydrogen and electric energy. This initiative is part of a larger strategic plan to create a Public Transport Green Zone by 2030, with the goal of decarbonizing 50% of the city's public transport and reducing 200 metric tons of carbon daily. The green buses, operating on one of the busiest routes on Abu Dhabi Island, aim to provide environmentally friendly transport solutions to around 6,000 passengers daily. Furthermore, Abu Dhabi Mobility is expanding the green bus usage to other key routes to enhance the public transport experience in the city. By leveraging advanced technologies like hydrogen fuel cells, the project ensures zero-emission operations, significantly reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Passenger satisfaction and operational efficiency are prioritized through onboard surveys and monitoring systems. This initiative not only aligns with Abu Dhabi's strategic and environmental visions but also supports the UAE’s Net Zero 2050 Strategy and enhances the region's sustainable development goals.
