Algeria has unveiled ambitious plans to advance renewable energy and green hydrogen projects, signaling a shift towards sustainability and reduced reliance on traditional electricity sources. With financial support from the European Union and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development, the approximately 28 million euros project aims to enhance institutional and technical capabilities in renewable energy sectors, facilitate the implementation of renewable projects, and promote the green hydrogen economy. Key components of the initiative include the establishment of an information database on Algeria's potential for green hydrogen applications, alongside tools for efficient energy consumption and emission reductions. The country, known for its gas exports, targets a significant increase in renewable sources in its energy mix, with a goal to reach nearly 27% by 2026 and produce approximately 15 gigawatts of renewable energy. This project showcases Algeria's commitment to sustainable energy practices and sets the stage for further growth in renewable energy investments and initiatives in the region.
