bp, in collaboration with Masdar, Hassan Allam Utilities, and Infinity Power, has entered into a Joint Development Agreement (JDA) to work on a multi-phase green hydrogen (gH2) project in Egypt. The partnership aims to explore the development of a large-scale project focused on producing green hydrogen and its derivatives for export, with bp as the main developer and operator. A Framework Agreement (FWA) has been signed with the Egyptian government to begin technical and commercial feasibility studies for the project. The signing of the agreement coincided with the Egypt-EU Investment Conference. The consortium's goal is to support Egypt's energy transition plans and contribute to a sustainable energy future. The partners believe that their combined expertise will pave the way for regional cooperation, access to global markets, and the decarbonization of sectors relying on fossil fuels. The project also aligns with Egypt's ambition to leverage its renewable resources and strengthen its position as a leader in green power. The consortium envisions creating an export hub for green hydrogen that will not only benefit Egypt but also contribute to promoting green industry in Africa and beyond.
