Tanzanian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy, Doto Biteko, emphasized the significance of green hydrogen in powering Africa's future and driving sustainable development. Speaking at the Global African Hydrogen Summit in Windhoek, Biteko highlighted the pressing need for increased energy access in African countries and emphasized the transition to green energy. He stressed the importance of utilizing available resources like hydro, natural gas, solar, small hydro, wind, and geothermal to boost generation capacity. Biteko pointed out Africa's potential to lead the global green energy revolution due to its abundant resources, youthful population, and emerging markets. However, he acknowledged the challenges in investing in green hydrogen, including financing, infrastructure development, market creation, and demand stimulation. Biteko called for collaborative efforts among African governments to prioritize cleaner fuel and work towards a low-carbon economy. He urged seizing the opportunities presented by green hydrogen to ensure a sustainable and prosperous future for the continent.
