GAIL, a prominent natural gas company in India, has entered into a memorandum of understanding with Accelera by Cummins, a clean energy technology firm, to collaborate on green energy and energy transition technologies. The focus of the MOU, signed during the India Energy Week 2025, includes joint efforts in hydrogen production, blending, transportation, and storage. This collaboration leverages Accelera's expertise in new energy sectors and GAIL's well-established natural gas infrastructure. The partnership between GAIL and Accelera aims to explore the potential of hydrogen as a standalone fuel and in combination with LNG/CNG in various sectors like transport, power, and steel. GAIL is proactively advancing its clean energy initiatives, evidenced by bringing forward its net-zero targets to 2035 and commissioning a 10MW green hydrogen unit in Madhya Pradesh. Furthermore, GAIL is diversifying its clean energy portfolio by planning to set up compressed biogas (CBG) and ethanol plants across India. The company has already established a CBG plant in Ranchi and is working on multiple CBG and ethanol projects through joint ventures. Additionally, GAIL's partnership with Coal India for synthetic natural gas production in West Bengal highlights its commitment to sustainable energy practices. The positive momentum extends to GAIL's financial performance, as the company reported increased revenue and profits for the nine months ending 31 December 2024. The revenue growth reflects the success of GAIL's green energy transition efforts and its strategic partnerships.
