Haffner Energy, based in Vitry-le-François, France, has achieved a milestone with the start of production of mobility-grade green hydrogen at its Marolles site in Marne County, Grand Est Region. This development marks a significant step forward in the company's green energy initiatives. The company has also announced the signing of a crucial first contract with H2 bois SA in Switzerland, a project aimed at developing a green hydrogen production plant in Glovelier, Jura County. This plant, anticipated to be operational by July 2026, is set to produce hydrogen, electricity, and biochar from biomass, sourced locally from the wood industry. The contract signifies progress in H2 bois SA's efforts to decarbonize mobility and meet the energy needs of industrial consumers of fossil hydrogen. The expected total order value for Haffner Energy from this project could reach up to €8.3 million. The plant is designed to produce 30 kg/h of hydrogen, with plans for on-site distribution and industrial/mobility applications. Additionally, the electricity generated will be integrated into the grid, while the biochar produced will be utilized for compost enrichment and soil improvement. Infrastructure plans include a secure land footprint for the plant and a pipeline for hydrogen distribution, strategically located near an industrial area with existing consumers of fossil hydrogen. Construction work on the pipeline has already commenced, with a route planned through a new business park expected to attract companies interested in consuming green hydrogen.
