Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) and Indian Oil Corporation Ltd have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to explore the viability of mass-using hydrogen fuel cell vehicles in India. As part of the agreement, HMIL has provided IndianOil with a Hyundai NEXO Hydrogen FCEV for real-world testing on Indian roads. The two-year trial period will focus on evaluating the vehicle's longevity, operational reliability, as well as conducting a Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) assessment to understand the economic and environmental benefits of hydrogen-powered vehicles. Unsoo Kim, Managing Director of HMIL, expressed optimism about combining world-class hydrogen fuel cell technology with Indian expertise through this collaboration. Dr. Alok Sharma, Director (R&D) and Board Member of IndianOil, highlighted the importance of hydrogen fuel in India's clean energy roadmap and its potential in achieving net carbon neutrality. The partnership aims to advance efforts towards a greener mobility ecosystem and foster a hydrogen ecosystem in India for sustainable and carbon-neutral mobility.
