Liquid Wind, a Swedish eFuel facility developer, has raised €44 million in a Series C financing round led by Uniper, HYCAP Fund I SCSp, and Samsung Ventures. The investment aims to expedite the establishment of green eFuel production facilities for hard-to-abate sectors, particularly focusing on the shipping industry. Liquid Wind plans to develop 10 eFuel plants by 2027 and expand to 500 facilities worldwide by 2050, contributing to the decarbonization of global shipping and meeting sustainability targets. The shipping sector, which currently heavily relies on conventional fossil fuels, is under pressure to transition to non-fossil fuel energy sources to achieve net zero emissions by 2050. Liquid Wind's eFuel facilities are designed to combat this challenge, significantly reducing emissions and contributing to the shift towards sustainable maritime fuels. The collaboration with key partners and the adoption of innovative technologies like Digital Twin enhance the efficiency and scalability of eFuel production. Each Liquid Wind facility is projected to produce 100,000 tons of eFuel annually and upcycle 150,000 tons of CO2, playing a crucial role in reducing carbon footprints. By partnering with leading companies and developing joint projects, Liquid Wind aims to drive the energy transition in the maritime sector and accelerate the adoption of low-carbon fuel solutions. The substantial funding raised underscores the confidence in Liquid Wind's potential to revolutionize eFuel production and make significant strides towards a greener future.
