Mitsubishi Power, a part of Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, has received a gas turbine supply order from Samsung C&T Corporation Saudi Arabia for a 475MW co-generation power plant in Saudi Arabia. The plant, located in Jubail, Eastern Province, is being developed by a consortium led by TAQA and JERA. It will serve a petrochemical complex and is owned by a special purpose entity with TAQA holding a 51% stake. The gas turbine to be supplied, M501JAC, is hydrogen-ready and will be the first heavy-duty gas turbine assembled in Saudi Arabia. This turbine is designed to blend hydrogen with natural gas, providing operational flexibility and contributing to a low-carbon power supply for the SATORP Strategic Expansion project. Mitsubishi Power has also entered into a long-term service agreement with the consortium to ensure the equipment's performance and reliability. Khalid Salem, President of Mitsubishi Power Middle East & North Africa, expressed pride in the partnership with TAQA and JERA, highlighting the project's role in Saudi Arabia's economic growth and decarbonisation efforts in line with Saudi Vision 2030.
