The joint venture between Plug Power Inc. and Olin Corporation, known as Hidrogenii, has recently commissioned a 15 metric-ton-per-day hydrogen liquefaction plant in St. Gabriel, Louisiana. This facility is one of the largest of its kind in North America and plays a crucial role in strengthening the regional hydrogen supply chain and accelerating the U.S. transition towards low-carbon energy sources. The plant is designed to liquify hydrogen produced by Olin for distribution through trailer shipments across the U.S., with a capacity of up to 15 TPD, increasing Plug's total production capacity to 40 TPD. The CEO of Plug Power, Andy Marsh, highlighted the plant as a significant milestone in expanding the U.S. hydrogen network, enhancing the company's financial position by reducing reliance on external suppliers. The President and CEO of Olin, Ken Lane, emphasized the value-driven approach of the joint venture, aligning with Olin's strategy of capital allocation. Established in 2022, Hidrogenii is part of Plug's broader strategy to develop a national green hydrogen network, complementing existing production sites in Woodbine, Georgia, and Charleston, Tennessee.
