Envision and Spanish Government Collaborate on Europe's First Green Hydrogen Industrial Park
Key Ideas
- Envision, in partnership with Spanish government and key industry leaders, will develop Europe's first integrated green hydrogen industrial park, advancing renewable energy innovations.
- The facility will include electrolysis, air separation unit, and ammonia synthesis to decarbonize Spain's hard-to-abate industries, creating 1,000 green jobs and contributing to Spain's Hydrogen Roadmap targets.
- An initial investment of $1 billion will lead to the construction of the facility, powered by locally generated clean energy, with construction set to begin in the first half of 2026, marking a significant step towards a sustainable industrial ecosystem.
- The collaboration aims to accelerate Spain's green hydrogen adoption plans, reduce Greenhouse Gas emissions, and establish a state-of-the-art Green Hydrogen Centre of Excellence, supporting the nation's renewable energy and climate goals.
Envision, in collaboration with the Spanish government and industry partners, is set to develop the first integrated green hydrogen net zero industrial park in Europe. This initiative will encompass the design, research, manufacture, and service functions for green hydrogen technologies, including electrolysis, air separation unit (ASU), and ammonia synthesis, to drive innovation in renewable energy and decarbonize Spain's hard-to-abate industries. The project, ratified through a Memorandum of Understanding signed during the Spanish Prime Minister's visit to China, aims to accelerate Spain's green hydrogen adoption plans and reduce the nation's Greenhouse Gas emissions by 23% by 2030.
The industrial park will also house a Green Hydrogen Centre of Excellence, signaling Envision's commitment to the region and collaboration with partners to implement cutting-edge net zero solutions. With a focus on producing electrolyzers critical for green hydrogen production, the facility targets to deliver 5GW of electrolysis capacity, contributing significantly to Spain's Hydrogen Roadmap objectives of achieving 11GW by 2030. The project, supported by an initial $1 billion investment, is expected to create 1,000 new green jobs.
Employing locally generated clean energy sources such as biomass, solar, and wind power, the facility aims to establish a fully green and sustainable industrial ecosystem. Construction is planned to start in the first half of 2026, with efforts underway to identify the optimal site for development, in collaboration with the Spanish Government. Upon completion, the industrial park will be certified as net zero by Bureau Veritas.
The Spanish Prime Minister commended the investment, emphasizing its role in building a better future through economic contributions. Through the integration of renewable energy production, energy storage, and net zero digital technology, Envision seeks to ensure a reliable and clean energy supply, reduce hydrogen production costs, and demonstrate the commercial viability of green hydrogen as a crucial element in the global energy transition.
