Discussions at the EU-Japan High-Level Hydrogen Business Forum emphasized the need for converging standards and regulations to facilitate the growth of hydrogen initiatives. Both the EU and Japan reaffirmed their commitment to supporting investments and deployments in the hydrogen sector to drive sustainable energy solutions. Key topics addressed included industrial cooperation, financial strategies, and research and development efforts, with a focus on fostering innovation exchange between European and Japanese energy industry leaders. The Forum also witnessed the signing of cooperation agreements between prominent entities such as Japan Hydrogen Association, New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization, and Hydrogen Europe, among others. Japan's substantial investment of ¥15 trillion in hydrogen over 15 years underscores its dedication to achieving 12 million tonnes of hydrogen supply by 2040, with a specific focus on advancing electrolysis technology and hydrogen transport infrastructure.
