HET Hydrogen and Indify Fuel Cell Partner to Boost Electrolyser Manufacturing in India
Key Ideas
  • HET Hydrogen, a subsidiary of Horizon Fuel Cell Group, is partnering with Indify Fuel Cell to establish manufacturing facilities for electrolysers in India, with plans to reach GW-scale quantities.
  • The joint venture aims to support India's National Green Hydrogen Mission by enabling the adoption of hydrogen in various sectors, with the first assembly expected to be operational by early 2026.
  • The companies are focused on introducing advanced AEM electrolysers technology, aiming to reduce capital costs and operating costs to make green hydrogen more competitive in the market.
  • Indify Fuel Cell plans to have the first 1 MW HET electrolyser assembly operational in India by March 2025, with an emphasis on increasing Indian content in future systems to ensure cost-effectiveness.
HET Hydrogen, a subsidiary of the Singapore-based Horizon Fuel Cell Group, is collaborating with Indify Fuel Cell to establish manufacturing facilities for electrolysers in India. The partnership aims to introduce GW-scale quantities of electrolysers and support India's National Green Hydrogen Mission, which focuses on promoting the adoption of hydrogen across various sectors. The initial phase of the plan will allow for assembling at least 100 MW per year, with operations expected to commence by early 2026. The companies are set to utilize Proton Exchange Membrane (PEM) and proprietary membrane and stack technology to develop MW-scale AEM electrolysers. These AEM systems are considered cost-effective solutions in the realm of electrolysers, with lower capital and operating costs compared to existing PEM systems. Indify Fuel Cell plans to have the first 1 MW HET electrolyser assembly up and running in India by March 2025 for customer demonstration and validation. The joint venture aims to enhance the local content in future systems to achieve the lowest possible levelised cost of green hydrogen for projects of varying scales.
