P2X Solutions, a leader in green hydrogen and Power-to-X technology, is currently commissioning the new Harjavalta production plant in Finland. The plant, set to be operational by the end of 2024, aims to drive the Finnish green hydrogen market forward and contribute to P2X Solutions' ambitious plan of reaching 1 GW of production capacity by 2031. In addition to green hydrogen, the plant will also produce renewable synthetic methane through methanation. The use of green hydrogen, produced via electrolysis with electricity from renewable sources, is crucial for achieving a low carbon future. To tackle these obstacles, P2X Solutions will utilize ABB Ability™ OPTIMAX®, an energy management system that enhances efficiencies and cost-effectiveness. The system will optimize energy flows and assets, enable competitive trading with the grid, and monitor power flows and energy usage for improved performance. By making green hydrogen more accessible and cost-effective, the Harjavalta plant plays a vital role in advancing towards sustainability. Through the joint efforts of P2X Solutions and ABB, the plant represents a significant step in the green hydrogen sector, fostering expertise and innovation in Finland and globally.
