Plug Power Inc. is partnering with Carreras Grupo Logístico to launch Spain's inaugural hydrogen-powered logistics site in Masquefa, near Barcelona. The project's primary objective is to transition from lead-acid battery-operated forklifts to hydrogen fuel cells, with the aim of boosting energy efficiency, productivity, sustainability, and cost-effectiveness. If successful, Plug Power plans to introduce a comprehensive green hydrogen ecosystem, comprising fuel cells, a 1 MW electrolyzer, and a hydrogen refueling station. The initiative at Masquefa serves as a testbed to evaluate the superiority of Plug's technology over traditional batteries. Insights gained from this pilot can potentially pave the way for the expansion of hydrogen-powered solutions across Carreras Group's extensive network of 46 warehouses in Spain.
