Basque Hydrogen, led by Spanish companies Petronor and Enagás, along with the Basque Government's energy agency, has chosen German manufacturer Sunfire to supply a 10 MW electrolyzer for a green hydrogen project in Bilbao, Spain. The electrolyzer will utilize renewable energy sources to produce up to 200 kg of green hydrogen per hour. Repsol plans to utilize this hydrogen for e-fuel production to aid in decarbonizing hard-to-electrify sectors. The project is scheduled to commence operations in 2026. Sunfire's CEO expressed enthusiasm about Spain's market for green hydrogen due to its geographic and industrial advantages. Repsol's Hydrogen Director emphasized the importance of partnerships like the one with Sunfire to promote the hydrogen value chain in Spain and drive industrial growth. Bilbao, a crucial hub for Repsol's decarbonization efforts, is a key location for hydrogen projects in the Basque Country region.
