Toyota Motor Corporation's new production plan for fuel cells and a water electrolysis system, aimed at supplying hydrogen, has been recognized under Japan's Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) Support Program for Building GX Supply Chains. The initiative, based on the GX Promotion Act, focuses on establishing a domestic manufacturing supply chain essential for achieving carbon neutrality. The company will collaborate with stakeholders to create a hydrogen society and boost fuel cell adoption, particularly targeting the commercial truck market by 2030. The goal is to supply 75,000 fuel cell units in Europe and America. Additionally, Toyota aims to achieve a cumulative business scale of 3 gigawatts for the water electrolysis system by 2030.
