Cadiz, Inc. and RIC Energy have announced a partnership to establish the largest green hydrogen facility in California at Cadiz Ranch in the Mojave Desert. The facility will leverage 100% solar power to produce 50 tons of green hydrogen per day, aiming to fuel zero-emission trucks, cars, and electric generation. Cadiz will provide land and water resources to RIC Energy for this project, which is expected to be a self-sufficient, off-grid facility spanning up to 3,000 acres. The site's proximity to major infrastructure such as rail lines, pipelines, and highways will facilitate the distribution of green hydrogen to Southern California markets. Furthermore, the project aligns with California's clean energy objectives, including the state's goal to deliver 90% clean electricity by 2035. This initiative is also part of the Department of Energy's Regional Clean Hydrogen Hubs program, supported by a significant federal funding agreement. With the potential to create over 200,000 green jobs and generate substantial economic value by 2030, the Cadiz-RIC Energy partnership exemplifies a significant step towards advancing renewable hydrogen production and clean energy infrastructure in the region.
