The international Doctoral Network 'Unite!Energy' is exploring the use of hydrogen for chemical energy storage as part of the EU-funded project under Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions. The initiative aims to address the challenge of aligning renewable energy production with demand by utilizing hydrogen as a storage medium. By converting surplus electrical energy into 'green' hydrogen through electrolysis, the project focuses on storing and distributing hydrogen for power generation during peak load times. Twelve PhD students are collaborating with industry partners to enhance the competitiveness of hydrogen in energy storage. Through the Unite! alliance, students work in tandems across universities to receive joint doctorates. The project involves universities across Europe, fostering international collaboration and preparing a new generation of creative researchers in the energy field. 'Unite!Energy' aligns with the Unite! network's focus on energy and offers a structured doctoral program to train experts driving the digital and green transition in Europe. This initiative highlights the importance of hydrogen in sustainable energy solutions and emphasizes the role of international partnerships in advancing research for the energy transition.
